Time evolution of the refereed publications
Description:
The attached figure shows the yearly evolution of refereed publications in helio- and asteroseismology (source: Astrophysics Data System) from 1997 up to 2008. These figures were obtained by searching directly the number of publications with the word helioseismology (or asteroseismology) either at the title or at the abstract. either in the title or abstract.

Although this simple exercise needs a deeper analysis, one can easily appreciate a clear increase in the number of publications during the last three years after a period of a roughly constant behaviour. This increase is in correspondence with the activity of HELAS. In principle, we can predict this behavior will continue next years, thanks to the inertia of those activities emanated from HELAS, and mainly to the large number of observational projects that soon will become operational, providing an astonishing amount of data of the Sun and the stars.
