Academia Belgica

The workshop will be held in the conference room of the Academia Belgica, Via Omero 8, Rome. The Academia Belgica, representing the Belgian culture in Italy, was built in 1930 to celebrate the wedding between the Belgian Princess Marie-Jose' and the Italian Prince Umberto of Savoy. The building is located near, and it is practically part of Villa Borghese.

INTERNET ACCESS
A wi-fi network is available during the conference sessions. The name of the network is PARELIO and it is password free. To use this facilities your notebook has to be setted in DHCP mode. No public PC will be available.


TRAVELLING

Please visit the English version of http://www.atac.roma.it for public transports (underground, bus, tram) in Roma. You have to buy bus tickets before using transports. Ticket of 1 euro allow you to travel on board of buses, trams, underground for 75min.

You can also buy tourists tickets or week pass (visit www.atac.roma.it in English version for further information).

How to reach Rome from airports

From Fiumicino Airport:
  • The direct train Fiumicino - Roma Termini is called "Leonardo Express": 2 departures per hour, departing from 6.37 to 23.37, journey time: about 30 min., Price: €11. The ticket must be purchased before boarding the train.
  • Another train stops at Ostiense and Tiburtina stations (it does not pass by Roma Termini!): 4 trains per hour, travel time to Ostiense 40 min., Price € 5.00
From Ciampino Airport:
  • Bus to Roma Termini: every 15-30 minutes, journey time between 40 minutes and 1 hour, price: € 5 to € 8, according to the companies.
  • Bus "line 1" from the airport to Anagnina station, which is the starting point of metro line A

How to reach Academia Belgica from your hotel

  • From Hotel Duke: a free shuttle service from/to Academia Belgica is available for this hotel. By walking it will take about 17 min (1.2 km). This is the link to the map
  • From Hotel delle Muse: Take the bus 360 in Piazza delle Muse for 4 stops and get-off at Piazza d'Ungheria. Reach the bus stop called ROSSINI located in viale ROSSINI. Then take the tram 3 or the 19 for 4 stops.
    Get out at Piazza Thorvaldsen (MUSEO ARTE MODERNA) and take the stairs to Academia Belgica.By walking it will take about 30 min. This is the link to the map

  • From Hotel Astrid: Walk 200 meters go to stop FLAMINIA/FRACASSINI take Line No 2 (FLAMINIO) for 2 stops. Get off at stop BELLE ARTI walk up to via di Villa Giulia (follow the map to Academia Belgica) or walk for 150 meters and go to stop BELLE ARTI and take Line No 19 (GERANI) for 2 stops. Get off at stop GALLERIA ARTE MODERNA walk up the stairs to Academia Belgica. By walking it will take about 20 min (1.7 km). This is the link to the map
  • From Istituto San Tommaso di Villanova: Walk 200 meters go to stop ROSSINI take Line No 3 (THORVALDSEN) for 4 stops and get off at stop THORVALDSEN and walk up the stairs to reach Academia Belgica. By walking it will take 19 min (1.6 km) . This is the link to the map.

How to reach Academia Belgica from Termini, Ostiense or Tiburtina stations

From Termini: Underground Line A, Battistini direction, stopping at Flaminio, enter in the park, walking on the left until the roundabout with fountain (Piazza del Fiocco), left in the direction of the Galleria di Arte Moderna, Via Omero is to the left, just before the stairs (10 min, see the map.)

From Flaminio to Academia Belgica

From Ostiense: Bus 95 (starting point "Piramide"), alight at Piazza del Fiocco (Viale Washington), approx. 5 min. walking distance of Academia

From Tiburtina: Underground Line B, San Paolo direction, meets line A
